Certification of Zakat Policy

Eligibility Criteria:

Recipient must be poor Suni Muslim. Poor in the context of zakah is defined as a person who does not have cash which reaches or exceeds the value of Silver Nisaab (threshold) or has surplus-assets (beyond the essential assets) which reach or exceed the value of Silver Nisaab.

Zakah Projects Requirement:

All Zakah designated projects will be clearly identified on the website from non-Zakatable projects.
Zakah funds must not be used for fundraising, marketing, events, salaries, and/or training.
All Zakatable projects must meet the eligibility criteria as mentioned above.
All Zakatable projects must require Tamleek (transfer of ownership and possession) of Zakah (cash or in-kind goods) to eligible recipients. Thus, Zakah Funds can not be used for communal projects such as community well, borehole, schools, masjids, and etcwhich do no transfer ownership to an eligible individual.
 

Distribution:

Zakah must be distributed in funds identified by the giveror in the most needed project if distributing in identified project is not possible. Zakah must be distributed as soon as possible to allocated fund.

Verification and Accountability:

Our organization will implement robust verification mechanisms to authenticate the eligibility of recipients and prevent misuse of Zakat funds. We will maintain accountability by keeping detailed records of Zakat collections, disbursements, and impact assessments.

Zakat Education and Awareness:

We Care Relief Canada will prioritize educating the Muslim community about the significance of Zakat, its proper calculation, and the impact it can have on alleviating poverty and supporting sustainable development initiatives.

Ethical Investments:

We will ensure that Zakat funds are invested ethically and in accordance with Islamic principles, with a focus on projects and initiatives that promote social justice, economic empowerment, and community development.

Reporting and Transparency:

We are committed to transparency and will provide regular reports to donors and stakeholders on Zakat collections, expenditures, and the impact of their contributions in transforming the lives of those in need.

Collaboration and Partnerships:

We will collaborate with reputable imams, community leaders to maximize the effectiveness of Zakat distribution and address the diverse needs of vulnerable populations.

Continuous Improvement:

We Care Relief Canada is dedicated to continuously improving our Zakat policies and practices through feedback, evaluation, and adaptation to ensure the most efficient and impactful utilization of Zakat funds in serving humanity and upholding Islamic values of compassion and justice.
